As Faith in Action Bay Area community leaders, we have been working towards a vision for stable homes and healthy families in Redwood City for over a decade. After hearing from thousands of neighbors struggling with the impacts of arbitrary evictions and rising rents, increased corporate ownership, and mistreatment and intimidation by landlords, we launched our platform in 2021 of housing solutions for Redwood City, so all of our families can live with dignity for the long-run. Together we can maintain the fabric of our community.
WHY DOES REDWOOD CITY NEED RENT CONTROL?
Rent control keeps rents affordable so all of us can afford to live here by allowing landlords to raise rent each year by at most 5%.
Essential workers like teachers, nurses and firefighters who serve our community should be able to live here.
We need to help our younger generation put down roots in Redwood City, ensure our children can live here for the long run, and allow our city to stay a family-oriented community.
Too many of our neighbors are experiencing mistreatment and intimidation by bad-actor, corporate landlords or are getting evicted arbitrarily. We need fair, dependable protections so our families can live with respect and dignity.
